Oaklands Equine Hospital is an RCVS-accredited Equine Referral Hospital on the rise in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom. We will next be advertising for interns early in 2019, with roles commencing in the summer of 2019.
We pride ourselves on being a caring and supportive team. Our internship offers the opportunity to get involved with the work-up of referral cases in the hospital, as well as assisting the ambulatory team on the road with routine calls and emergencies. General duties include conducting anaesthesia, contributing to diagnostic imaging with radiographs and ultrasonography, as well as inpatient care and out of hours’ work, but that does not even scratch the surface. Interns are very welcome to get involved in non-clinical activities such as helping to organise road shows and building client relationships and are strongly encouraged to take more case responsibility along the way according to their experience and comfort.
Education through the internship comes in many forms, including formal teaching as well as case based learning and experience. Oaklands will support you in developing your own areas of special interest and values further education of every team member, be it through attending CPD courses or working towards certificates in one of the various fields of equine medicine and surgery. An internship can be quite intense and hard work, but don’t worry, you will always be supported.
